My studies are currently approaching the finish line, which is exciting and frightening at the same time. The feeling was similar in the first study year – exciting and frightening, as any new beginning in life. My last year in the university began with a very unexpected but flattering message from prof. Ēriks Jēkabsons about the Richard Zariņš Memorial Foundation Scholarship. Thanks to this scholarship, I had the opportunity to reduce my workload and spend more time in the archives to write my Master’s thesis ‘Actions of The Department of Health of the Ministry of Welfare in 1918-1934’. Of course, receiving a scholarship is an event filled with excitement, though it brings additional responsibility at the same time, as well as an advance for the future, since the most important work is still ahead. I would be very happy if I could associate my future life with the science of history. I am very grateful to R. Zariņš Memorial Foundation for the opportunity to receive this scholarship!
